In Their Own Words

"We farm without chemicals because this soil must feed our grandchildren just as it fed our ancestors. When you place a seed in Demada Oya soil with respect, the earth responds with abundance."

Sunil manages 4 acres of multi-crop paddy and organic garden terraces. He has championed traditional water conservation and chemical-free agriculture across the valley.

Demada Oya Farm Morning & Soil Connection

Demada Oya Farm Morning & Soil Connection

Step into the daily life of farmer Sunil as dawn breaks over the mist-covered terraced fields. Learn ancestral water irrigation, weed and tend seasonal tubers, harvest fresh produce, and share a hearty farmer’s breakfast (kurakkan thalapa and spicy lunu miris) under the shade of a mango tree.
